Dog Nutrition

We have all heard the phrase "you are what you eat", this is as true for your dog as it is for you. Many of the health problems people experience with their pets are rooted in poor nutrition. In fact health problems like chronic dermatitis, cataracts, joint problems, dull coat, excessive shedding and obesity are just a few problems that can be caused by poor nutrition. Commercial diets say they are complete balanced diets but this is far from true. The commercial dog food market is highly competitive and often good nutrition is sacrificed for higher profits. Not to mention that most dogs eat one brand of food their entire life. Kind of like eating at a fast food restaurant your whole life. I have seen great results with my own dogs when I supplement their diet. I have fed supplements to my dogs for a couple of years now with great results. First off my dogs coats are as shinny as a race horse's and my trips to the vet have disappeared. I personally strongly believe in supplements for myself and know how well I feel when I take them. So I have adopted the same practice for my pets. I use a dog supplement I’ve developed called DINOVITE ™.

Recent studies have also linked generalized demodectic mange to a zinc deficiency. In this study toxicology screens were run on dogs with generalized demodex. All tested positive for a zinc deficiency. Supplemental zinc was given to these dogs in addition to their therapy and all recovered.

I have first hand knowledge of this and have prevented my dogs from coming down with demodex by supplementing my dogs diets with DINOVITE ™. This supplement contains a highly absorbable form of zinc, zinc methionine. I don't want to bore you with technical jargon but this is cool. Methionine is an amino acid and cells love it. A zinc atom is bound to the methionine molecule so when the cell absorbs the methionine the zinc gets absorbed right along with it, an absorption rate of near 98%. Vitamin C has been a vitamin that was not included in dogs diets because dogs could synthesize it themselves. But recently vitamin C deficiencies have been linked to hip displasia in dogs. Basically, the study went like this:Dysplastic German shepherds were bred together, the mother was given vitamin C throughout her pregnancy and the pups when born were also supplemented with vitamin C until the age of two years old.
