Dog Nutrition
We have all heard the phrase "you are what you eat", this is as true for your dog as it is for you. Many of the health problems people experience with their pets are rooted in poor nutrition. In fact health problems like chronic dermatitis, cataracts, joint problems, dull coat, excessive shedding and obesity are just a few problems that can be caused by poor nutrition. Commercial diets say they are complete balanced diets but this is far from true. The commercial dog food market is highly competitive and often good nutrition is sacrificed for higher profits. Not to mention that most dogs eat one brand of food their entire life. Kind of like eating at a fast food restaurant your whole life. I have seen great results with my own dogs when I supplement their diet. I have fed supplements to my dogs for a couple of years now with great results. First off my dogs coats are as shinny as a race horse's and my trips to the vet have disappeared. I personally strongly believe in supplements for myself and know how well I feel when I take them. So I have adopted the same practice for my pets. I use a dog supplement I’ve developed called DINOVITE ™.DINOVITE ™ dog supplement contains practically every trace mineral known to man. These trace minerals are important building blocks to maintaining your dogs good health. Digestive enzymes and beneficial bacterial cultures play an important role in your dogs digestive process. Commercial feeds are produced by a process known as extrusion. Extrusion is kind of like a giant pressure cooker. This cooking process totally destroys the essential digestive enzymes and beneficial bacterial cultures making it very difficult for your dog digestive system to absorb essential nutrients. DINOVITE ™ contains essential digestive enzymes and beneficial bacterial cultures. Dinovite contains 13 digestive enzymes and five different beneficial bacterial cultures.
Omega 3 fatty acid is something you may have heard about. Typically, it's benefits are observed in your dogs outward appearance. When Omega 3 fatty acid is included in your dogs diet your can expect to see your dogs coat improve and become shinny and healthy like a race horse. DINOVITE ™ dog supplement contains Omega 3 fatty acid as well as antioxidants. Antioxidants play an important role in fighting cancer among other things. Zinc, in my opinion is a mineral that is deficient in most dogs diet. What does zinc do? Well, it would probably be easier to list what zinc does not play a role in. Zinc is an essential nutrient needed for stabilization of cell membranes, reproduction, insulin storage, immunity and skin to mention a few. Dogs who are deficient in zinc can display some of the following symptoms: dull coat, dry scaly skin and a compromise immune system.
Recent studies have also linked generalized demodectic mange to a zinc deficiency. In this study toxicology screens were run on dogs with generalized demodex. All tested positive for a zinc deficiency. Supplemental zinc was given to these dogs in addition to their therapy and all recovered.
I have first hand knowledge of this and have prevented my dogs from coming down with demodex by supplementing my dogs diets with DINOVITE ™. This supplement contains a highly absorbable form of zinc, zinc methionine. I don't want to bore you with technical jargon but this is cool. Methionine is an amino acid and cells love it. A zinc atom is bound to the methionine molecule so when the cell absorbs the methionine the zinc gets absorbed right along with it, an absorption rate of near 98%. So I don't worry about zinc deficiencies with my dogs when I supplement with DINOVITE ™.
Vitamin C has been a vitamin that was not included in dogs diets because dogs could synthesize it themselves. But recently vitamin C deficiencies have been linked to hip displasia in dogs. A veterinarian did a controlled study to prove this link. Basically, the study went like this:Dysplastic German shepherds were bred together, the mother was given vitamin C throughout her pregnancy and the pups when born were also supplemented with vitamin C until the age of two years old. At 2 years old all the pups were checked for hip displasia. None were dysplastic! DINOVITE ™ dog supplement contains vitamin C as well.
